New York Downtown Orthopaedic Associates is the academic orthopaedic faculty practice of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at New York-Presbyterian/Lower Manhattan Hospital.

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is a major clinical department at New York-Presbyterian/Lower Manhattan Hospital. New York-Presbyterian/Lower Manhattan Hospital orthopaedic surgeons perform over 3,000 inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures each year in hospital operating rooms and ambulatory surgical centers. These include adult reconstructive orthopaedic surgery, primary and revision joint replacement of the hip and knee, ambulatory and complex spinal surgery, foot and ankle surgery, shoulder and elbow surgery, surgery of the hand and wrist, surgical treatment of fractures and other orthopaedic trauma, as well as a large variety of arthroscopic and sports medicine procedures.

The spacious New York Downtown Orthopaedic Associates faculty practice suite is located on the eighth floor of New York-Presbyterian/Lower Manhattan Hospital and provides comprehensive orthopaedic care. Orthopaedic surgeons in all orthopaedic specialties are readily available to see patients in outpatient consultation and follow-up care in a state-of-the-art office facility. In addition to multiple subspecialty orthopaedic surgeons, New York Downtown Orthopaedic Associates boasts subspecialty Centers in Hand Surgery, Orthopaedic Sports Medicine and Spinal Surgery.

The Department is intensely devoted to the maintenance of the highest quality orthopaedic care and provision of state-of-the-art orthopaedic management and surgical procedures. Orthopaedic surgical conferences are held each weekday throughout the academic year and include lectures by attending and visiting staff as well as a monthly quality assurance conference. There are ongoing departmental performance improvement programs and continuing medical education, as well as an active clinical research program.
